Nature leads us through

A question that I have often found myself asking over the last few months has been ‘ what does time allow’? Time allows perspective.

This year, although raw and often painful for many has also been a catalyst for change. A change of hearts, a change of priorities, a change in desires, a change in direction. I have found that through this turbulent season certain details have become refined and I wonder if this year had not happened the way it has if we would have reached such clarity on certain details.

Perspective.

This year has lead us to nature, time and time again. ature has in many ways become both the solace and the meaning for the way forward. On initial thought going camping to the Kalahari with an almost 2 year old doesn’t always seem like the obvious choice ( some will even tell you you’re crazy ) but this trip turned into an unexpected gift. An opportunity to slow down, an invitation to witness nature and be guardian to the eager unfolding happening within our son as he immersed himself in his surroundings. After a week in the Kalahari we came to the conclusion that for us the secret lay not in the pursuit of finding the next big sighting but rather in the slowing down. The heat of the day begs you to surrender, and it is in this surrendering that you begin to see the magic of this Wilderness — birds of prey acrobatics from the hide in camp, jackal hunting doves, ground squirrels visiting, the changing of colours as the days drew to a close in camp, long swims in the heat of the day, Kalahari thunderstorms, listening to the night orchestra from the comfort of our tent. Nature has once again provided us with renewed inspiration and filled our cups
